Finding the dentist who's really right for you and your needs is essential to establishing and maintaining healthy teeth. Choosing the right dentist is a personal choice. It isn't so much whether the dentist you’re considering is generally qualified and competent. It's more about how relevant the dentist's particular training and experience is to your particular health needs; whether you and your dentist get along; and whether you like the dentist's "bedside manners."
If you're seeking a specialist like Dr. Kwong, you could start by getting a referral from your family dentist, a friend, a family member or a dental association - anyone or any organization whose judgment you trust.
Surfing the Internet will introduce you to many dental sites and directories, offering information on various dental procedures as well as lists of local dentists. Examine specific qualifications like special experience or training, such as Dr. Kwong's LVI certification, and think about whether the dentist's closeness to your home or work is a factor in your choice.
A few questions to as and answer, when you're considering whether Dr. Kwong is right for you:
Traditional dentists focus mainly on repairing and maintaining the health and appearance of your teeth. Neuromuscular dentists like Dr. Kwong - who is an LVI-certified dentist - also consider your bite, the associated facial muscles and nerves, and how they all work together to affect your overall health and well-being.
Using advanced technology, equipment and techniques, as well as a patient-focused philosophy that ensures a gentle, considerate approach to dental care, Dr. Kwong will scientifically determine the most relaxed position for your jaw - the position where it will function the most efficiently. He will then take effective measures to adjust your bite to this position.
This holistic approach identifies and permanently corrects the alignment of your jaws and teeth. The result? Your most attractive smile and appearance, as well as the least amount of ongoing stress on your muscles and joints.

Unhappy with the teeth whitening results from home bleaching kits? Unsure about non-dental office teeth whitening options?
A dental office bleaching treatment can lighten your teeth 4 to 6 shades, in about an hour.
The bleaching product applied to your teeth uses a 15 to 35 percent hydrogen peroxide gel solution, and a laser can be used to increase the whitening effect. During treatment, your gums and other soft tissue are protected with a special shield or gel. After treatment, the bleaching gel is rinsed off and the process can be repeated several times to achieve the desired look.
If your teeth are badly stained or discolored, why "cover up" with bleaching treatments when you can permanently whiten your teeth through cosmetic dentistry? Our customized cosmetic dentistry solutions for a permanently brighter, healthier smile include veneers (a thin shell of porcelain or composite material fitted to the front side of your tooth), crowns (caps made of acrylic or porcelain and fused to metal, that fit over your entire tooth), or bonding (tooth-colored materials that are adhered to the surface of your tooth).

Neuromuscular dentistry focuses on fixing muscular, jaw and joint discomfort or pain associated with a misaligned bite. A good bite involves coordinated movement of the jaw joints, muscles, and the teeth. If your jaws are not properly aligned, your body strains to compensate, often causing tension in your jaws, muscles and nerves. If left undiagnosed and untreated, a misaligned bite may cause more severe health problems such as TMJ/TMD.

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder/Temporomandibular Disorder (TMJ/TMD) is a condition that causes pain with the movement of the jaw and the surrounding muscles, ligaments and nerves. TMJ/TMD is a group of symptoms that may include pain or tenderness in the temporomandibular joint or surrounding muscles; headache; earache; neck, back, or shoulder pain; limited jaw movement; or a clicking or popping sound in the jaw. These problems are caused either by dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint or another problem - such as spasm or tension of the muscles used for chewing - affecting the region of the temporomandibular joint.
Some TMJ/TMD cases are temporary and can be treated at home with over-the-counter pain medicines, compresses, and jaw exercises. If your dental problems persist, Dr. Kwong can give you a treatment regime similar to the home-care treatment but with the help of his expertise and professional equipment, such as a bite plate or a splint to ease the muscle tension. If these therapies do not work, Dr. Kwong will consider a full mouth restoration to relieve your discomfort.
